My Role
I was the Founder of a company called SportsWatcherss. SportsWatcherss was an online sports-based marketplace for sports art, activewear, and fitness equipment. The marketplace gave sellers the ability to upload their products, set prices on their products, and create their own store on our website. Through my expierence with SportsWatcherss, I learned methods to generate sales, design and operate the marketplace, implement products, onbaoard partners, and more.
Evolution of SportsWatcherss (Solving the Problem)
To solve the problem of having lack of exposure for sports artist and sportswear companies, I chose to start a marketplace. While places to sell such as Amazon and Etsy does exist, having a sports based place to sell benefits users.
Solution
Every marketplace begins with the chicken/egg problem. In order to get sellers to use the marketplace, I promised free promotion on social media pages. Although the business did not succeed, we did achieve the following:
Pinterest: 30K+ impressions
Instagram: Partnered with influencers that combined to have over 1M followers (2018-2019)
Twitter: Created partnerships with over 20 sports artist
In addition to the social media pages, I conducted an online art auction, created blog post interviewing artists, and produced giveaways increase exposure/sales for the marketplace. Iterating through the process of conducting user research all the way through launching a new product, I was able to gain first-hand experience on working with stakeholders, customers, and others to achieve each group's definition of success while maintaining my vision for the company.
